Huureenhut respects the privacy of all individuals whose personal data it processes, including visitors and users of the website www.huureenhut.nl (hereinafter referred to as: the "Platform"). Huureenhut considers the careful handling of personal data to be of great importance. Huureenhut will process your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016).


Huureenhut processes personal data where and insofar as necessary to comply with a legal obligation or judicial order, as well as on the basis of the following three legal grounds:


1) Performance of a user agreement between you and Huureenhut, or your request to enter into such an agreement.

This ground applies when you make use of Huureenhut's services on the Platform. Under this legal basis for processing personal data, Huureenhut processes your personal data only to the extent necessary to perform the agreement with you, including the provision of the Platform's functionalities and contacting you where required for proper performance of the agreement.


In this context, personal data may be shared with third parties in the following situations:

  • To enable Hosts to make clear to (potential) Guests the identity of the Host, the nature of the hut(s) offered and their features, the Offer includes a selection of the personal data you as Host have provided, including at least photos and a description of the hut(s). This information is visible to all users of the Platform. Your profile name is likewise visible to all users of the Platform;
  • If you as a (potential) Guest make use of the Platform, you may create an account and, optionally, a profile. Your personal data as a (potential) Guest, including your profile details, will not be published on the Platform, but will be shared with the relevant Host if you make a booking through the Platform;
  • Users of the Platform may chat with each other, provided they have an account;
  • If you make a payment as a Guest in connection with a booking via the Platform, your personal data will be shared with the relevant payment provider to the extent necessary to process your payment;
  • If you, as a user of the Platform, voluntarily share additional personal data with other users of the Platform or with other third parties in connection with the functionalities of the Platform.

If you as a Host have entered into a user agreement with Huureenhut, you may make use of the functionalities of the Platform provided to you.


2) Legitimate interest of Huureenhut.

This ground applies in cases such as:

  1. Huureenhut's automatic provision of the personal data you have submitted via the Platform and stored under your account to the hosting provider engaged by Huureenhut. This is necessary to ensure proper functioning of the Platform, its functionalities and Huureenhut's email services;
  2. Huureenhut's provision of your personal data to an accounting firm in order to maintain Huureenhut's administration and accounts. In this regard, Huureenhut also uses accounting software, which may result in your personal data being stored by the software provider;
  3. The use of chat software on the Platform to enable the relevant messaging function;
  4. The use of cloud services for the storage of personal data.

The operators of the above-mentioned software may in certain cases receive and store your personal data in order to provide their functionalities to Huureenhut. Under this legal ground, Huureenhut processes your personal data only insofar as necessary to serve the stated legitimate interest.


3) Your consent.

This ground applies when:

  1. You contact Huureenhut in any way, for example by email or via the contact form on the Platform. Your consent is implied by the fact that you contact us;
  2. Huureenhut wishes to use your personal data for other purposes or to provide it to third parties. In such cases, your consent will always apply to a specific processing and a specific purpose. If Huureenhut has multiple purposes for processing personal data, you will be informed and separate consent will be requested for each purpose.

European Economic Area (EEA)

Huureenhut stores your personal data within the European Economic Area ("EEA"). However, it may occur that certain personal data collected by Huureenhut is transferred to or stored outside the EEA because an external service provider of Huureenhut is established there. Where this is the case, Huureenhut ensures that processing of your personal data outside the EEA takes place in a safe and lawful manner. Huureenhut will take the necessary steps to guarantee that your personal data is adequately protected.


Access to personal data

Only authorized employees of Huureenhut have access to your personal data, and only to the extent necessary for the performance of their assigned duties. This also applies to third parties as mentioned above with whom Huureenhut shares personal data or to whom you directly provide your personal data. Huureenhut will under no circumstances sell your personal data. Persons under Huureenhut's responsibility, as well as third parties engaged by Huureenhut, are required to respect the confidentiality of your personal data. Where Huureenhut outsources the processing of personal data to a third party, Huureenhut will take the necessary steps to ensure that your personal data is adequately protected. Such steps include entering into a data processing agreement with such recipients to ensure they take the same or comparable technical and organizational measures as Huureenhut, thereby ensuring adequate protection of your personal data.


Cookies used by Huureenhut

Huureenhut uses functional and analytical cookies that may automatically collect data when you visit the Platform. A cookie is a small text file stored in the browser of your device upon visiting the Platform. Huureenhut uses cookies with purely technical functionality. These ensure the proper functioning of the Platform and, for example, the remembrance of your preferences. These cookies are also used to ensure the Platform functions properly and can be optimized.


In addition, Huureenhut uses analytical cookies to collect data for research purposes, in order to gain a better understanding of how the Platform is used by its visitors and users. Analytical cookies help analyze the use of the Platform by collecting log data and visitor behavior on the Platform in anonymous form.

Automated decision-making

Huureenhut does not use your personal data for automated decision-making. Although this is self-evident, Huureenhut is legally required to state this.


Your rights

You have the right to request Huureenhut to provide access to, rectify or erase your personal data, as well as to restrict processing. You also have the right to object to processing and the right to data portability. This means that you may submit a request to Huureenhut to have your personal data processed by Huureenhut sent to you, or to an organization specified by you, in a computer file.


To ensure that the request is made by you, Huureenhut asks you to send a copy of your identity document along with your request. Please black out the MRZ (machine-readable zone), document number and Citizen Service Number (BSN) on this copy. This is to protect your privacy. Huureenhut will respond as soon as possible, and in any event within four weeks.


Where processing of personal data is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw such consent at any time, without prejudice to the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.


You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or, if you reside in another country, with the supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.


Retention of personal data

Huureenhut retains personal data only as long as is necessary in light of the purposes for which it is processed. Huureenhut implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss and against any form of unlawful processing. Taking into account the state of the art and the costs of implementation, these measures ensure an appropriate level of security, considering the risks of processing and the nature of the personal data to be protected. The measures are also aimed at preventing unnecessary processing of personal data.
